Whale Watching

One of the highlights of a Massachusetts vacation is to go on a Cape Anne whale watch.
In fact, I just returned from one a couple of days ago. As usual, I went on the 7 Seas Whale Watch in Gloucester, Mass. The naturalist on board began the trip with an eloquent educational talk about the whales and other marine life that would be seen on the trip. Then it was a two hour trip traveling about 10 miles out to sea. On the way, we spotted a few minke whales. Then we came to an area where a couple of humpback and finback whales were feeding and diving. We were able to see how whales behave in their domain. It is a sight to behold and an experience you will never forget.
Now, if it is an orca whale watch that you are looking for, then you will have to go to the Pacific coast, along the San Juan Islands.

Arrive Early for Check In

Most travelers do not realize that nonrefundable tickets are very restrictive and can be even more restrictive when they are purchased off of the internet. When you buy nonrefundable tickets, they are only valid for a specific date and time.

Travelers should contact their airlines and their airport to find out how early to get to the airport to check-in. As a rule, travelers should plan to be at the airport at least one hour before the flight’s departure to check-in if they not checking-in bags and two hours if the are checking-in bags. The reason for this early check-in is to give travelers enough time to check their bags in and get the bags screened as well as to get their boarding passes and to go through the security checkpoint. Travelers should realize that airports have multiple airlines with many flights within the same time period and, as a result, there will be a lot of people to be processed.

Travel Insurance

Mother nature sometimes disrupts your vacation plans and sometimes airlines will relax restrictions that are usually placed on non-refundable tickets. This will enable passengers to rebook or reschedule their air travel. However, my suggestion is that you get travelers insurance. Depending on the coverage you choose and the insurance provider, travelers insurance typically covers events such as, but not limited to, hurricanes, emergency medical evacuation, lost baggage, trip interruption and emergency travelers assistance. Feel free to Google travel insurance below and shop around.

Travelling out of the Country

Given a choice to carry a birth certificate or a passport to your vacation destination? By far, the passport is the best document to carry when traveling out of the country. It will be much easier to enter your destination county with a passport, as immigration officers from other countries will not scrutinize your documents as much if presented with a passport. From my experience, I have seen many passengers sent home because the immigration officer thinks that their birth certificate is not valid.
